Only you can do what is necessary to make you happy and change your career. No one else can do that for you. You control your own career destiny and you can make things happen or not! Your life. Your responsibility. Your choice. Your goals Your career. If you chose to have goals, those goals will be unique to you⦠Your own personal goal DNA! Focus your attention on where you want to go and what you want to be. Do you need to identify goals in your career? Set your goals Goal setting is a powerful exercise to help provide direction. The process enables you to focus on your future and turn those plans and goals into action. Setting goals is an important part of the Five Step Approach To Career Change Success. By clearly identifying goals you can focus on what needs to be done. Clarity of thought and clarity of purpose will ensure you keep your focus. Goals provide assistance to identify what needs to be done. Typical characteristics of goal setting are: Goals can be long-term and short-term Large goals need to be cut into smaller manageable tasks Goals need to be specific and attainable Goals should be allocated a time frame No matter your age or experience setting goals is critical. It provides focus on a path and gives direction on what needs to be done and activities that are required. It helps separate whats important from whats irrelevant and provides motivation and self-esteem based on the successful achievement of goals. Career Objectives Career objectives provide a framework to define your ideal path. Without these goals, there is no direction, no purpose and no destination. Goals and career objectives allow you to focus your energies on an end result. Having goals can enable a person to identify specific tasks or steps that need to be accomplished along the way in order to reach the desired destination. Your career DNA Your career DNA and your goals are the starting point for creating a roadmap. Once you have defined a set of goals, then you need to determine what intermediate steps are necessary to achieve that goal. Career goals are important objectives in your future life. It is also important to realize that goals and career objectives need to be regularly reviewed and updated. Goals can often be a mix of long-term and short-term, as well as specific and general. Long-term goals tend to be more general, since circumstances may change over time, while short-term ones are more specific, since they can be planned for more easily. When setting objectives or tasks, its important to consider what is required to achieve those goals. A time frame for achieving the objective that includes regular milestones and self-evaluation is required. Obstacles are to be expected.
